4 Multiple Technologies In One Modular System
What Is The Lumenis M22?
This treatment is a multi-use platform that allows dermatologists to treat more patients with varying skin conditions with better results than any other single device. The one M22 module is a tabletop laser system created by the same company that created the IPL technology. It has 3 different modules:
The IPL module utilizes SapphireCool Light Guides to provide continuous
cooling to maximize patient comfort during the procedure. The IPL module is
a proven method of minimizing the appearance of:
• Pigmented lesions
• Unwanted hair
• Vascular lesions
• Sun Damage
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Active Acne or Acne Scars
• Spider Veins (Telangiectasia)
• Birthmarks, moles, and “beauty marks
• Age spots
ResurFX uses a fiber laser and innovative scanner for non-ablative skin resurfacing. The ResurFX is unique in that treatment only requires one pass for optimal results! This protects the patient’s skin and reduces the amount of time a treatment session takes.
The ResurFX is used for non-ablative skin resurfacing and commonly treats:
• Pigmentation problems
• Age spots
• Fine lines & wrinkles
• Acne scars & surgical scars
• Textural irregularities
• Lax skin
ResurFX can be combined with an IPL Photofacial for a state-of-the-art anti-aging Photofractional treatment. ResurFX is also perfectly suited to be combined with injectable treatments such as dermal fillers and neuromodulators such as Botox.
Uses multiple sequential pulsing to allow for cooling between pulses. The Nd:YAG is most commonly used to treat:
• Vascular lesions
• Superficial wrinkles

An Alternative Treatment to Botox with Clodagh’s Laser and Skin Clinic
ResurFX is a photo-fractional, non-ablative (does not destroy or ablate the skin cells) laser treatment used for facial skin resurfacing and to stimulate the production of new collagen. The laser technology works to improve skin discoloration, stretch marks, acne scars, wrinkles and more.
ResurFX can treat the following conditions:
- Age spots or sun spots
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Hyperpigmentation or discoloration
- Uneven skin tone
- Scars from acne or surgery
- Lax or loose skin
- Faster; it treats the underlying condition in one pass without damaging the skin’s surface
- Less painful; the device’s energy is distributed to prevent overheating and damaging skin surfaces
- Flexible; it can be combined with fillers and neurotoxins to provide more treatment possibilities.
ResurFX is a very exclusive laser where it uses its beam to penetrate dermis and heats up the tissue and then initiate the process of formation of new collagen. The laser is moved around the target area, section by section. It enhances the blood circulation and in turn, helps in building collagen and rejuvenating the skin.
Is it Painful?
A numbing cream is applied to the target area 30 minutes prior to the treatment. The treatment itself is an uncomfortable process. It’s a fuzzy, hot and tingly sensation. In saying that, some areas I didn’t feel anything, while other areas (around the jawline especially) I could feel the laser penetrating through the skin but it only lasts for a second. In my opinion I didn’t find it all that bad, although I do have a high tolerance for pain. Let’s put it this way, I’d get it done again without batting an eyelid!
By day two my skin was absolutely glowing and flawless. My main issue was the line across my forehead and by day two it was gone. After a few weeks it started to reappear, not as deep as it originally was, but visible to the eye. Clodagh had explained prior to the treatment that deep lines and scars can take a number of sessions to remove. I was recommended 3-4 sessions for best results.

IPL Hair Removal
IPL’s are NOT lasers.
IPL uses light to remove hair, but emits a varying wavelength of light. Therefore, the intensity of light varies across the area that the light source focuses on. It will be more powerful in some areas, and not necessarily in the areas where the unwanted hair is. The light emitted by the IPL cannot focus on a specific area, whereas medical grade laser can focus on a specific hair follicle.
IPL is far less effective than laser hair removal.
Medical Grade Laser
Medical grade lasers are highly technological pieces of machinery that must be operated by trained and qualified technicians. Clodagh’s Laser and Skin clinic in Blanchardstown, specialise in skin treatments and laser hair removal (luminis light sheer medical grade laser).
The lasers in Clodagh’s clinic generate their own light which is then focused onto a specific area – even a specific hair follicle. They have a single wavelength, providing a targeted treatment for hair removal. The light emitted by the IPL cannot focus on a specific area.
Pros and Cons
IPL works like a flash-lamp, sending out scattered wavelengths of light.
Medical Grade Laser sends out a single wavelength, providing a targeted treatment for hair removal.
IPL’s scattered wavelengths expose the client to heat and discomfort which can be avoided with medical grade lasers.
Medical Grade Laser is focussed on the area where the unwanted hair actually is, resulting in efficiency and minimal discomfort to the area.
IPL only really works for those with fair skin and dark hair.
Medical Grade Laser can be specifically set to skin tone/type, the machine can be adapted to target an exact pigment.
IPL is considerably cheaper but less effective.
Medical Grade Laser is more expensive but requires less treatments and results in long-term results and permanency.
